A genus of globose cacti with a flattened apex, which was named after German botanist Wilhem Weingart. Native to high mountain ranges of Southern Bolivia and Northern Argentina, they grow at altitudes ranging between 1,600 and 3,600 metres above sea level. Like Sulcorebutia, Weingartia has been lumped into Rebutia. Flowers are produced near the apex; they are typically yellow and bloom in the morning. They are easy to grow, like all plants that grow high on the mountains, but do not tolerate hot-summer Mediterranean climate
